Beginning her work as an anthropologist who studied with Margaret Mead, Houston has expanded her work to be an anthropologist of the spirit. Her workshops and books have helped to connect many disaffected Christians and Jews to the spirit. She has also inspired women spiritual leaders to resurrect and create rituals authentic to themselves and to the world in which we live.
